Derrick Favors starred on Georgia Tech's 2010 NCAA Tournament team
The most acclaimed high school prospect to sign with the Yellow Jackets in the past decade, ranked No. 5 nationally, Derrick Favors stayed close to his South Atlanta home to attend Georgia Tech, where he put together a stellar freshman campaign and was named ACC Rookie of the Year and earned Freshman All-America honors.
He helped the Jackets to the championship game of the ACC Tournament, beating North Carolina, Maryland and NC State in succession before falling by four points to No. 4 Duke in the title game. Tech earned a berth in the NCAA Tournament, where they defeated Oklahoma State in the first round before being eliminated by No. 5 Ohio State.
Favors became the third overall pick in the 2010 NBA Draft by the Brooklyn Nets, then was traded midseason of his rookie year to the Utah Jazz, where he has played nine seasons and helped lead the Jazz to the NBA playoffs each of the last three seasons, including 2018-19.
