THE FLATS – On day one of the NCAA Zone B Diving Championships, Georgia Tech swim and dive’s Ruben Lechuga clinched his spot to compete in the Men’s 1 Meter event at the NCAA Championships.
In the preliminaries of the event, Lechuga placed 10th with a score 340.46 and qualified for the finals. Knowing that only the top seven would move on to the national event, he went on to record a seventh place and NCAA qualifying score of 692.60 in the finals.
Lechuga had an event average score of 6.56 in preliminaries and 6.83 in the finals. His average round score in preliminaries was 56.74 and 58.69 in the finals.
Luke Dotson also competed for the Jackets in the Men’s 1 Meter event, finishing with a score of 222.75 in the preliminary round.

Tech will continue competition at the NCAA Zone B Diving Championships with the Women’s 1 Meter and Men’s 3 Meter events on Monday, March 6.
