Lauren Pitz Tapped To Omicron Delta Kappa

Oct. 22, 2016

THE FLATS – Georgia Tech senior middle blocker Lauren Pitz was tapped this week to the Alpha Eta Circle of Omicron Delta Kappa, which is a forum for campus leaders to effect change and considered one of the highest honors attainable for a Georgia Tech student.

Pitz is a biology major out of Carmel, Ind. and plans to apply to medical school following graduation. A two-time ACC honor roll selection, Pitz has a 3.5 cumulative GPA. She is a captain of the volleyball team and also a member of the Student-Athlete Advisory Board (SAAB) at Georgia Tech.

“Getting accepted into the Alpha Eta Circle of ODK is a tremendous honor and I am very thankful for the amazing opportunity,” Pitz said. “As a member of the Circle, I hope to further develop my role as a leader among student athletes and the rest of the student body.

“As a member of SAAB, I am very involved with trying to integrate student athletes with the rest of the student body by getting them involved in service and campus events. The reason I wanted to join ODK is because they have similar goals, and they have a specific initiative for this purpose.”

More about ODK (from http://www.odk.gatech.edu)
Omicron Delta Kappa places emphasis upon the development of the holistic leadership. The founders of ODK formulated the idea that leadership of exceptional quality and versatility in college should be recognized, that representatives in all phases of college life should cooperate in a worthwhile endeavor, and that outstanding students, faculty, and administration members should meet on a basis of mutual interest, understanding, and helpfulness. At Georgia Tech, the purpose of our Circle is to provide a forum for campus leaders to effect change. We promote internal discussions about pressing campus issues and brainstorm effective methods to resolve those issues via external initiatives.

Student Recruitment
Student membership in the Alpha Eta Circle of Omicron Delta Kappa is based on leadership and service within the Georgia Tech community, outstanding scholarship, and exemplary character. Recruitment is held once each year at the beginning of the fall semester.
