ATLANTA–After scoring 23 points in Georgia Tech’s victory over Kentucky, Halston Lane was named Atlantic Coast Conference Rookie of the Week. Lane is Tech’s third straight Rookie of the Week honoree, following Marvin Lewis the prevous two weeks.
In 17 minutes against the Wildcats, Lane hit nine of 13 attempts from the field, including 4-for-7 from three-point range, to lead all scorers in the Yellow Jackets’ (5-3) 86-84 win.
Earlier in the week, the 6-4 win player from Oak Ridge, Tenn., had five points and six rebounds in 13 minutes in Tech’s loss to Georgia.
For the two games, he averaged 14 points and 4.5 rebounds while shooting 56 percent (10-18) from the field, including 5-for-9 from three-point range.
For the season, Lane is averaging 7.3 points and 2.7 rebounds per game.
The Yellow Jackets are off this week for final exams before travelling next week to the Stanford Invitational, Dec. 18-19 at Stanford, Calif.
