Jason Morris Signs Basketball Letter with Tech

Nov. 16, 2009

ATLANTA – Georgia Tech’s men’s basketball program received its first recruiting commitment of the early period Monday when Jason Morris, a 6-5 guard from Lakeville, Conn., signed a letter-of-intent to attend the Institute and play for the Yellow Jackets.

Morris is rated the No. 78 player in the country by Scout.com and the No. 18 player at his position (No. 84 overall and No. 21 at his position by Rivals.com). A native of Augusta, Ga., he has attended The Hotchkiss School, a prestigious boarding school in rural Connecticut, for the last four years. He averaged 17 points and seven rebounds as a junior last season.

“We’re thrilled to get Jason Morris’ letter of intent,” said Tech head coach Paul Hewitt. “He’s an excellent student and an outstanding athlete. If I can compare him to some of the guys we’ve had in the past, he’s on the level of Isma’il Muhammad in terms of running and jumping.”
