James Johnson On Biletnikoff Award Watch List

Sept. 4, 2007

Georgia Tech junior wide receiver James Johnson is one of 39 players on the 2007 Biletnikoff Award watch list, which is awarded annually to the nation’s top wide receiver.

Former Yellow Jacket Calvin Johnson won the award last year.

Johnson caught two passes for 41 yards, including a 31-yard pass from quarterback Taylor Bennett, last Saturday at Notre Dame. Johnson has caught at least one pass in 15 consecutive games.

The junior from Oakland (Fla.) has 55 career receptions for 835 yards and nine touchdowns.

Three finalists will be named in November and the winner will be announced Dec. 7 on the ESPN College Football Awards Show from Orlando, Fla.

The Biletnikoff Award is named for College and Pro Football Hall of Fame receiver Fred Biletnikoff and is presented by the Tallahassee (Fla.) Quarterback Club Foundation.
