THE FLATS – The Georgia Tech cross country teams will travel to Huntsville, Ala. to compete in their second meet of the season at the North Alabama Showcase on Friday, Sept. 16. Competition will begin at 8:30 a.m. (EST) with the men’s 8K race and the women’s 5K race will follow, with a scheduled start time of 9:15 a.m. (EST).
Both races will take place at John Hunt Cross Country Park and awards will be presented after the conclusion of both races near the entrance of the park. The last time that Tech competed on this course was at the 2021 NCAA South Regional Championships.
The men and women head into the meet after a dominating performance in their season opener at Berry College’s Watermelon Run. Tech achieved both individual and team finishes with Nick Nyman leading the men in the 8K and Liz Galarza claiming the top spot in the women’s 5K. Returners, Zach Jaeger and James Cragin rounded out the top three for the men. Transfers, Helena Lindsay and Kate Jortberg placed second and third, respectively, in their first meet at Georgia Tech. The Jackets had seven or more runners finish in the top 10 in both races.
The following schools are set to compete at the meet: Alabama, Alabama A&M, Alabama State, Alcorn State, Auburn, Austin Peay, Bellarmine, Birmingham Southern, Bryan, Calhoun CC, Chattanooga, Covenant, Cumberland, Eastern Florida, EKU, Emmanuel, FGCU, Georgia, Jacksonville State, Kennesaw State, Kentucky, Lamar Lee, Memphis, Mississippi College, Mississippi State, New Orleans, North Alabama, Samford, South Alabama, USF, University of Southern Indiana, Southern Miss, Troy, Queens, UAB, UCF, Wallace State, WKU and William Carey.
