Jackets to Host Georgia Tech Fall Invite

ATLANTA – From October 2-4 the Georgia Tech Men’s Tennis team will host their first home event of the 2010-11 season, the Georgia Tech Invitational, at the Bill Moore Tennis Center. Play will kick off on Saturday at 7:50 a.m.

Tech will be one of 13 teams participating in the three-day tournament. Admission is free.

Miguel Muguruza, a senior from Wesley Chapel, Fla., will be representing Georgia Tech at the tournament this weekend and is seeded second in singles play. Muguruza has yet to play this season, but during his 2009-10 campaign, Muguruza posted an 11-9 dual record (7-9 at No. 4 singles, 4-0 elsewhere) including a 1-1 showing in NCAA tournament play.

Muguruza is slated to have a bye in the first round of action and will take on Dauw Kruger of South Alabama in the Round of 32.

On Saturday, the first round of the doubles tournament and first and second rounds of the singles tournament will be held. Sunday’s events include the quarterfinals and consolation round of doubles play as well as the quarters and semis of singles play and 1st round and quarters of consolation singles. Everything will wrap up on Monday with the singles and doubles champions being crowned as well as the singles consolation winner.
