THE FLATS — The Georgia Tech men’s tennis team (6-5) defeated No. 21 Florida State, on Friday afternoon at the Ken Byers Tennis Complex.
In doubles, the Jackets clinched the doubles point after both Joseph Gandolfo/Chris Yun took down Lucas Poullian/Juan Martin Jalif, 7-6 (7-4).
The victory came when both the Jackets and the Seminoles had each won a match in doubles, giving the Jackets the doubles point.
In singles, No. 106 Cole Gromley defeated Rana Roop Bhullar, 1-6, 6-3, 6-1, and Andrew Li topped Juan Martin Jalif, 6-3, 6-1.
Chris Yun and Phillip Gresk both fell in their matches. Yun dropped his match Richard Thongoana, 3-6, 6-4, 6-2, while Alex Knaff defeated Gresk, 6-3, 7-6 (7-1).
Joseph Gandolfo also fell, losing a tough battle to Chase Wood. Wood defeated Gandolfo, 6-1 6-4.
With the score tied 3-3, No. 36 Carlos Divar battled with No. 63 Lucas Poullain.
Divar gave the Jackets a 4-3 win with his defeat over Poullain, 5-7, 6-4, 6-2.
The Jackets will be on the road on Sunday as they will face the Clemson Tigers at 1:00 p.m.
