Jackets sweep first half of doubleheader...

Feb. 6, 2005

Georgia Tech opened the day winning the doubles point. The Jackets claimed all three matches with David North and Marko Rajevac winning 8-4 to start things off. The Tech tandem of Scott Blackmon and Jose Luis Muguruza clinched the point for the Jackets. In the final doubles pairing of the day, Zachary Rath and Sukhwa Young took a 9-8 victory winning the tiebreaker 13-11 at the number one position.

Freshman Jordan Delass won in straight sets to clinch the first match of Tech’s doubleheader on Sunday, February 6. Fellow freshman George Gvelesiani made short work of Wofford’s Richard Cahi, 6-1, 6-0 to claim the first singles match of the day for Tech. Young won in straight sets, winning the second set in a 11-9 tiebreaker setting up Delass for the clinching match.

Blackmon and North were also straight set winners, while Muguruza won in three sets.

With the win, the Jackets improve to 2-0 in dual meets. The Jackets will face Georgia Southern today in a match set to begin at 2:00 p.m.
