THE FLATS – Georgia Tech swimming and diving’s annual GT Invitational is set to be one of the top invites in the country as 11 nationally ranked teams will battle it out at the McAuley Aquatic Center on Nov. 15-17.
The Yellow Jacket’s 20th-ranked men’s team will face off against No. 4 Florida, No. 12 Alabama, No. 16 Virginia Tech and No. 19 Florida State, as well as Auburn, North Carolina, South Carolina and East Carolina.
The Georgia Tech women’s team will battle in the pool against No. 10 Florida, No. 12 Auburn, No. 19 North Carolina, No. 22 Florida State and No. 24 South Carolina, as well as Alabama, FGCU, Virginia Tech and East Carolina.
Tech is coming off competing in the ACC-Big Ten Challenge where it broke two school records and recorded five NCAA B qualifying times in preparation for this week’s invitational. Junior Emily Ilgenfritz broke the program’s 1000 free and 500 free (NCAA B time) records in the event, while sophomore Caio Pumputis (200 breast, 200 IM), senior Rodrigo Correia (200 back), sophomore Christian Ferraro (200 fly) captured NCAA B cuts during the weekend.
