Jackets Post Strong Day at June Stewart Invitational

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The Yellow Jackets posted a successful day to wrap-up the June Stewart invitational on Sunday, posting six wins between doubles and singles. Georgia Tech nearly swept singles action, pocketing four wins, and went undefeated in doubles, posting two victories.

Singles action against Texas Tech opened the morning as the Jackets collected four wins, two in straight-sets. Nadia Gizdova rolled past her opponent, Isa Di Laura, 6-1, 6-1, while teammate Jeanette Lin picked up a 6-3, 7-6 (3) decision over Nell Miller. Kenya Jones and Dalila Said also proved victorious in singles play as each won their matches in three sets. Jones rebounded from dropping the first set against Denise-Antnela Stocia, 3-6, 6-1, 6-2, and Said downed Kennedy Bridgforth, 4-6, 6-3, 6-3.

Tech closed out the tournament taking a couple doubles matches against MTSU. Jones and Said teamed up to defeat Costanza Magazzini and Zani Barnard, 6-2, while Valeriya Deminova and Gizdova also posted a 6-2 triumph, downing Kim Kermet/Luisa Zirilli.

With the conclusion of the June Stewart Invitational, Georgia Tech wrapped up fall competition. The Jackets will return to action in January at the MLK Invitational in Michigan.
