The 2007 Georgia Tech softball team had a record-setting season. The Yellow Jackets won a school record 54 games, set Atlantic Coast Conference records with 96 home runs, a .322 batting average and a .536 slugging percentage. The Jackets will return seven position staters next season and two of the three pitchers.
Highlighting the returners will be rising senior NFCA All-American Aileen Morales. Morales, a shortstop from Columbus, Ga., is currently playing with Puerto Rico in the PanAm Games and hit over .300 in the Canada Cup earlier this summer.
Academic All-America Whitney Haller also returns, along with 20-plus home run hitters Savannah Brown and Brittany Barnes. Haller, a first baseman from Marietta, Ga., already has 39 career home runs, 10 shy of the ACC record. Brown, a catcher from San Diego, Calif., set a new ACC record with 76 RBIs, while Barnes, a third baseman from Lawrenceville, Ga., drove in 73 runs, second all-time in the ACC annals.
