NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The Georgia Tech women’s tennis team faced stiff competition on the opening day of the June Stewart Invitational on Friday, facing Vanderbilt in singles and Texas Tech in doubles. The Yellow Jacket pair of Kenya Jones and Dalila Said notched a hard-fought doubles win.
Tech opened the tournament with singles play in the morning as Vanderbilt grabbed all four matches in straight sets. Action continued with the first round of doubles with the Jackets taking on Texas Tech. Tech’s Jones and Said, who reached the semifinals of the ITA Southeast Regionals last weekend, pocketed an 8-7 (7-4) victory over Rush/Miller.
Tech returns to action on Saturday facing Vanderbilt in doubles and MTSU in singles play. Doubles are set to begin approximately 11:30 a.m.
