THE FLATS — Two PRs and three top-10 finishes led Georgia Tech track and field in the first day of the Yellow Jacket Invitational on Friday evening at the George C. Griffin Track and Field Facility.
The Yellow Jackets begin the full day of action on Saturday, March 17, beginning at 11 a.m. with the javelin and pole vault before the rest of the field events continue. Running events begin at 12:30 p.m. with the 4×100 relay, followed by the regular 1500-meter heats.
Men’s Highlights
Nahom Solomon turned in a personal-best performance in the ultra-fast 1500-meter invitational heat, finishing fourth with a time of 3:44.28. Matt Munns finished eighth overall with a time of 3:58.15.
Tanner Shaw led Georgia Tech in the 5000 meters, turning in a time of 14:36.51 to finish fourth overall.
Women’s Highlights
The day kicked off with the 5K, where Rebecca Dow paced all Yellow Jackets, obliterating her personal record by nearly 25 seconds with a 12th-place time of 17:50.67.
