Noting Thursday’s Matchup
Georgia Tech puts its 3-0 record on the line against 3-0 and No. 5/3-ranked Clemson in a nationally televised ACC showdown on Thursday night at Bobby Dodd Stadium.
Georgia Tech stands at 3-0 for the fourth time in the last six seasons (2011, 2013, 2014 and 2016). Prior to 2011, the Yellow Jackets were 3-0 just four times in 40 seasons since 1971 (1984, 1990, 2001 and 2005).
Georgia Tech welcomes one of its oldest rivals to Bobby Dodd Stadium on Thursday when it squares off against Clemson for the 82nd time. Tech officially owns a commanding 50-28-2 lead in the all-time series between the two schools.
The Yellow Jackets have been especially dominant against Clemson at home. Georgia Tech has won five-straight over the Tigers at Bobby Dodd Stadium and holds a commanding 44-13-2 edge in games played between the teams in Atlanta.
Georgia Tech is 7-2 at home against nationally ranked opponents under head coach Paul Johnson. The sterling 7-2 mark includes two wins over ranked Clemson squads (2011 and 2014) and a 3-1 ledger against top 10 teams at Bobby Dodd Stadium since 2008.
The Yellow Jackets are ranked seventh nationally and second in the ACC in scoring defense, allowing just 10.3 points per game this season.
For the first time since 2001, Georgia Tech has held each of its first three opponents of the season to 14 points or less.
