ATLANTA – The Georgia Tech men’s and women’s track and field teams will host the annual Georgia Tech Invitational, Friday-Saturday, May 12-13, at the Georgia C. Griffin Track. The meet is free admission.
Showcasing their talents for the home crowd for the final time will be men’s seniors Eric Massey and Nico Shaner. On the women’s side, All-America seniors Brandy Depland and Andriane Lapsley will be competing in their finals meets at Tech.
Massey, a native of Gainesville, Fla., broke the school indoor record in the weight throw this season and holds a personal-record and NCAA Region qualifying mark of 201 feet, 11 inches.
Shaner, a native of Udhailiyah, Saudia Arabia, tallied a lifetime-best mark of 216 feet, 4 inches, in the javelin throw to earn All-Atlantic Coast Conference honors at the ACC Outdoor Championships earlier this year.
Depland, an All-American in the triple jump, holds NCAA Region qualifying marks in the long and triple jump events for Tech. A native of Katy, Texas, Depland posted a personal-record mark of 20 feet, 5 1/4 inches, at the ACC Outdoor Championships, and posted a PR mark of 43 feet, 5 3/4 inches, at the Walt Disney World Invitational. She garnered all-conference honors in the triple jump at the outdoor ACC meet.
Lapsley, a three-time All-American for the Jackets, has NCAA Region qualifying times in the 100-meter dash (11.46), 200-meter dash (23.23), 100-meter high hurdles (13.49) and 4×100-meter relay (44.28). A native of San Antonio, Texas, Lapsley is also a four-time ACC sprints champion.
