Atlanta – Georgia Tech (11-8, 2-3) will face Atlantic Coast Conference foe Boston College (11-8, 1-4) Thursday at 7 p.m. in the Alexander Memorial Coliseum.
The Jackets are 7-and-3 this season with home-court advantage and are 1-and-1 at home when facing conference opponents. Tech won its last home game over Miami but, dropped the last two, a road contest to No. 2 North Carolina and a neutral sight game to No. 14 Vanderbilt.
Janie Mitchell, who was sidelined for four games with a Medial Collateral Ligament sprain in her left knee, came off the bench in Sunday’s loss to Vanderbilt and led the Jackets in scoring with 14 points shooting 7-for-12 from the field. She also grabbed six rebounds and tied her season high with three steals. The Jackson, Miss. native is averaging 13.4 PPG and leads the Jackets with 6.7 RPG.
Chioma Nnamaka added 13 points and nine rebounds Sunday while senior Stephanie Higgs had 11 points, nine of which were earned at the free-throw line.
The Jackets face a Boston College team who won their first ACC game of the season in their last outing, downing Clemson, 69-64, at home. Tech also defeated the Tigers on Jan. 7 in Clemson, S.C., 63-57. The only other common opponent for the two teams is Miami, who Tech defeated, 52-37, on Jan. 15. The Golden Eagles fell to Miami just day’s later on Jan. 18, by 15 points.
The Jackets lead the all-time series with Boston College 2-to-1. The Eagles, who were ranked No. 21/22 at the time, won the last meeting on Feb. 9, 2006, 57-55, on a last second shot by Kindyll Dorsey.
Tech has only faced Boston College once since the Eagles joined the ACC in July of 2005.
