Jackets Head to Arkansas for Chile Pepper Invitational

Georgia Tech will compete in their fourth meet of the season this Saturday as they will travel to Fayetteville, Ark., to take part in the Chile Pepper Invitational. The men’s 10K race will consist of 34 teams and will begin at 9:30 a.m. CST while the women’s 6K race will feature 48 teams and will start at 4:15 p.m. CST. The races will be run on the Razorback Cross Country Course in Agri Park.

The men will face another strong field this weekend as top-ranked Arkansas, sixth-ranked Arizona, and No. 11 Texas-El Paso will all be in action along with Alabama who is just out of the rankings at No. 31. The women will compete against three top-16 teams in No. 12 Arkansas, No. 14 Baylor, and No. 16 Oklahoma State.

Tech is running its fourth meet of the season in preparation for the ACC Championships which will take place in two weeks. The men’s team has been led by sophomore Nazar Trilisky, who has finished as the Jackets’ top runner in two of the three meets this season and has two top-20 finishes overall. He was also Tech’s second finisher at the Mercer Atlanta Invitational. The Jackets have also received strong performances from sophomore Paul Specht, who has been Tech’s top finisher once this season, and junior David Herren, Tech’s second runner at the Notre Dame Invitational. On the women’s side, sophomore Nisha Kurian has paced the Jackets this season, finishing as Tech’s top runner in two meets, while collecting two overall top-20 finishes. Junior Mary Chind and sophomore Elena Linn have also been solid runners for the Jackets this year as Chind has placed in the top-20 overall twice while Linn has finished as Tech’s second runner on two occasions.
