Jackets Finish the Weekend Strong Winning Three Events

Final Results

AUBURN, Ala. — On the final day of the Tiger Track Classic, the Georgia Tech track and field saw first-place finishes from Matt McBrien, Jeanine Williams, and Dasia Smith.

McBrien ran well in the men’s 1500-meter event, turning in a first-place finish and a PR time of 3:58.65, while Williams performed well in both the women’s 100-meter event and in the women’s 100-meter hurdles.

In the 100-meter event, Williams had the best finish for the Jackets, finishing in fourth with a time of 11.86. In the hurdles, she finished in first with a time of 13.96.

In the field, Dasia Smith put together a solid performance. Smith finished in first in the women’s long jump with a mark of 5.75 meters. Fellow Yellow Jacket, Attallah Smith also jumped well, finished in third with a mark of 5.56 meters.

“Across the board, this was not an exceptional meet for the men. This was our 4th week in a row which I believe was a factor,” noted men’s track and field head coach Grover Hinsdale. “However, we had a good handful of guys put up very solid performances as well as several PRs.”

“They were Nasir Christian in the 110m HH, Ty Brooks and Lionel Jones in the 400m, Bennett Hillier and Jag Gangemi in the 800m, Anthony Steets in the 400m IH, and Maurice Simpson in the 200m.  Monday, we get back to work as we prepare for the Georgia Tech Inv in two weeks.”

The Jackets won’t compete next week but will host the Georgia Tech Invitational on April 19 – 20.
