CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. — The Georgia Tech men’s tennis team (8-7, 3-3) fell to No. 5 Virginia, 4-0 on Friday afternoon at the Boar’s Head Sports Club.
The Jackets would enter singles play trailing 1-0 after the Cavaliers clinched the doubles point.
In singles, No. 30 Carlos Divar and Andrew Li both dropped their matches. Divar fell to No. 11 Carl Soderlund, 6-1, 6-2, while Li lost his match to Henrik Wiersholm, 6-1, 6-4.
Pablo Schelcher lost a tightly contested match to Matthew Lord, 7-5, 6-4, to clinch the match for the Cavaliers, 4-0.
Phillip Gresk, Chris Yun, and Cole Gromley’s matches were all left unfinished after Virginia clinched the match.
The Jackets will be back in action on Sunday, March 24th when they visit the Virginia Tech Hokies at noon at the Burrows-Burleson Tennis Center.
