BLACKSBURG, Va. — The Georgia Tech men’s tennis team (8-8, 3-4) fell to Virginia Tech, 4-2 on Sunday afternoon at the Burrows-Burleson Tennis Center.
The Jackets would enter singles play trailing 1-0 after the Hokies clinched the doubles point.
In singles, Andrew Li and Cole Gromley both defeated their opponents. Li took down Alex Ribeiro, 6-4, 2-6, 7-5, while Gromley bested Evan Fragistats, 6-3, 6-7 (2), 6-3.
However, Phillip Gresk and Chris Yun dropped their matches giving the Hokies the win.
Gresk fell to Henrik Korsgaard, 5-7, 6-4. 6-3, and Yun was defeated by Carlo Donato, 7-6 (3), 6-2.
No. 30 Carlos Divar also dropped his match falling to No. 56 Jason Kros, 7-5, 6-7 (5), 6-0.
Pablo Schelcher’s match against Brandon Perez was left unfinished after the Hokies had clinched the match.
The Jackets will be back in action on Friday, March 29th when they host No. 2 Wake Forest.
