NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The Georgia Tech women’s tennis team picked up four singles wins on day two of the June Stewart Invitational on Saturday. The three-day tournament is being played on the campus of Vanderbilt University.
Action kicked off with a round of doubles against Vanderbilt. While the Jackets dropped a pair of doubles matches, they rebounded in singles to collect four wins in the afternoon. Facing MTSU in singles action, Tech saw victories from Kenya Jones, Dalila Said, Valeriya Deminova and Jeanette Lin.
Jones, Deminova and Lin all collected straight-set wins over their Blue Raider opponents. Jones dropped just four games en route to a 6-1, 6-3 victory over Constanza Magazzini, while Deminova cruised to a 6-2, 6-4 triumph over Kim Kermit. Lin rounded out the straight-set wins, pocketing a 6-2, 6-2 decision over Zani Barnard. After dropping the first set, 6-4, to Lidia Burrows, Said regrouped to walk away with a 4-6, 6-3, 6-3 win over Burrows.
Tech concludes the tournament on Sunday with the final round of doubles and singles.
