LAS VEGAS – Georgia Tech’s Kristi Miller, Whitney McCray, Alison Silverio and Tarryn Rudman finished day two of competition at the Freeman Memorial Tennis Championships by earning a pair of doubles wins in the third round of play.
Singles play was postponed for the second-straight day as the temperatures dipped into the 30’s, but the Jackets were still able to fit in four doubles matches before the day’s end.
Silverio and Rudman dropped a hard-fought 9-8 (4) match to Oregon’s Carmen Seremeta in the second round, but rebounded with an 8-3 victory over Arizona State’s Rebecca Rankin and Laila Abdala in round three.
Following an 8-6 loss to the Sun Devils’ Kady Poller and Roxanne Clarke to begin the day, Tech’s duo of Miller and McCray earned their second doubles win of the tournament, 8-3, over ASU’s Jessica Leitch and Sabrina Capannolo to end the day.
The Jackets will try to play one more doubles match, as well as one round of singles, Sunday before returning to Atlanta.
