Howard Advances at U.S. Olympic Trials

SACRAMENTO, Calif. – Sophomore NCAA national champion, Chaunte Howard, advanced to the finals of the women’s high jump on Saturday night with a mark of 5’11.50″ at the U.S. Olympic Trials at the Alex G. Spanos Sports Complex. Howard will be one of eight women vying for the top three spots to represent the United Stats at the Athens Olympics.

Former Tech graduates, David Krummmecnacker and Angelo Taylor, moved on to the finals in the 800 meters and 400-meter hurdles.

Krummenacker, the Tech record holder in the 800, qualified for the finals of the800 with a time of 1:47.30, finishing fifth.

Taylor posted a time of 49.19 in the 400m hurdles to finish in fourth place to advance to the finals of the event, tommorow night at 7:30 p.m. ET.

The U.S. Olympic Trials will be televised on NBC (WXIA-Atlanta) from 7 p.m.- 8 p.m. ET on Sunday, July 11th. For additional meet information, including results, go to U.S. Olympic Trials Schedule and Results.
