Hidalgo, Pumputis Named ACC Performers of the Week

THE FLATS – Georgia Tech Swimming and Diving earned a pair of conference performer of the week awards, the ACC announced Tuesday. Caio Pumputis was named the men’s swimmer of the week and Camryn Hidalgo was named the women’s diver of the week.

Pumputis earned two NCAA B cut times in the 100 breast and 200 breast. Pumputis is a top swimmer in these events. His time in the 100 breast (52.96) is seventh in the nation and first in the ACC. His time in the 200 breast (1:55.32) is third in the nation and first in the ACC.

Pumputis swam in four events, the 100 breast, 200 breast, 200 IM and 400 free relay, against Florida State taking home first in every event. His 27 points at the meet were the most of any male swimmer.

Hidalgo competed for the first time this season and turned in one of her best opening meets of her storied career. She recorded scores on the 1-meter board (307.35) and 3-meter board (362.55). Both of these scores were good enough for zone qualifying scores.

Hidalgo and Pumputis are no strangers to top performances on The Flats. Hidalgo has two All-American honors and finished third on the 3-meter board at the NCAA Championships last year. She also tops the record book in all three diving events.

Pumputis has five All-American honors to his credit while topping the Georgia Tech record book in the 100 breast, 200 breast and 200 IM. At the NCAA championships last year, he finished fifth in 200 IM and eighth in 200 fly.

The next meet for the White and Gold is on Nov. 5 when the team travels to UNC followed by a meet on Nov. 6 at Duke.
