Herren and Gibbs Lead Jackets on Final Day of Rod McCravy Memorial

LEXINGTON, Ky. – Junior David Herren and freshman E.C. Gibbs posted third-place finishes to lead the Georgia Tech men’s track and field team at the Rod McCravy Memorial on Saturday.

Herren clocked a personal-record indoor time of 4:12.66 in the mile, while Gibbs ran a season-best time of 1:52.81 in the 800 meters.

Redshirt freshman Andy Powlen tallied a fourth-place finish in the men’s shot put with a mark of 55 feet, 3 ½ inches, for the Rambling Wreck.

Junior Lindsey Vincent and sophomore Derek Hoye posted fifth-place finishes for the Jackets. Vincent ran a personal-record indoor time of 57.21 in the women’s 400 meters, while Hoye finished the men’s 800 meters with a season-best time of 1:53.90.

Freshman Nigel Orr finished sixth in the men’s long jump with a mark of 22 feet, 4 ½ inches.

The Yellow Jackets will compete in the Meyo Invitational, Feb. 3-4, in South Bend, Ind., on the campus of Notre Dame.
