THE FLATS – A total of 16 Georgia Tech swimmers will head north to compete in the Bulldog Last Chance Meet this weekend, Feb. 25-26, in Athens, Ga.
“The Bulldog Last Chance Meet is just that – it is the last chance for swimmers to post NCAA qualifying times and earn a spot at the NCAA Championship meet,” said head coach Courtney Shealy Hart. “Our swimmers know what their goal is and will push to obtain it this weekend. For the swimmers that didn’t compete at the ACC Championships, this is their taper meet for the season. This is their championships and what they’ve been working towards all season long.”
The two day individual meet will consist of 18 total events with 11 events on Saturday and another seven events on Sunday. On both days the prelims will start at 10 a.m. ET. On Saturday the finals will start at 5 p.m. ET, while on Sunday the finals are slated to begin at 4 p.m. ET.
On the women’s side, Tech record holders Iris Wang,Chiara Ruiu, Kira de Bruyn and Laura Branton will all be in action at the last chance meet, as well as Lila Best, Kelli Croft,Emily Dykstra, Florina Ilie, Lindsay Wallace and Megan Young.
For the men, senior Kevin Smith and juniorManuel Barragan, along with underclassmenJoonas Koski, Aidan Pastel, Quentin Talley and Austin Whalen will all compete with the chance of earning a spot at the 2017 NCAA Men’s Swimming & Diving Championships come March.
