KENNESAW, Ga. – The Georgia Tech volleyball team (9-3) fell 3-1 at Kennesaw State (8-3) in the Yellow Jackets’ final non-conference match of the season Friday night.
How it Happened
The opening game was a tightly contested set. KSU jumped out to an early lead, but a 10-2 run by Georgia Tech put the Jackets ahead 14-10. KSU worked back to tie it at 16 and from then on there were seven tied scores before the Owls captured the game 25-23.
Sydney Wilson had a pair of kills and a pair of solo blocks to lead Georgia Tech to an 8-2 lead in game two. The Jackets kept their foot on the gas pedal to win 25-16. The Owls regrouped and took off to a 10-1 start in set three, eventually winning 25-19.
The Owls peaked at the right time and recovered from a 23-19 deficit to win the fourth game, 25-23, and the match 3-1.
Quote
“We were able to get them out of system on the second game, and then we just started off flat in the third game,” head coach Michelle Collier said. “Kennesaw State played with a lot of heart and energy, and executed at a very high level. We will learn from this and work harder next week to get ready for the long conference season.
“I am pleased with the way we competed this pre-season. We had some great games, and we know what makes us win matches and what makes us lose matches, so we will be working on keeping our strengths more consistent.”
