THE FLATS – Georgia Tech Athletics was the recipient of the Star of the Year Award at the 2015 PACnet Conference on Feb. 10 in Newport Beach, Calif.
The award is given annually to a collegiate athletics program that has achieved great success and experienced outstanding results in the areas of ticketing, marketing and fan experience.
Georgia Tech is one of 115 Paciolan partners within the collegiate athletics space. Other finalists included Alabama, BYU, Cal and Michigan State.
Star of the Year Award nominees must embrace thought-leading strategies and new technology, leverage the power of Paciolan marketing vehicles to drive sales, and develop successful programs to retain and/or grow revenue.
“Georgia Tech is one of the top engineering schools in the world, so we take great pride in embracing technology and innovative strategies to service our students, alumni, season ticketholders and general fan base. Paciolan is a key partner in helping us achieve this,” said Rick Thorpe, Georgia Tech Associate AD for Sales and Fan Experience.
Thorpe, Director of Digital Media Brad Malone, and Director of Ticket Sales and Operations Owen Godfrey were on hand to accept the award.
“Georgia Tech offers incredibly innovative programs covering marketing and ticketing technologies to enhance the fan experience,” said Dave Butler, CEO of Paciolan. “We salute their talented team and they are very deserving of the prestigious Star of the Year Award for college athletics within the Paciolan community.”
Georgia Tech has been an early adopter of new services, technologies, and strategies, including: online season-ticket renewals, paperless ticketing deliveries, print-at-home bowl ticketing, and the implementation of a descending-price auction. Tech Athletics has also deployed customized email campaigns through FanOne’s Marketing Automation, SalesForce customer relationship management (CRM) solution software, and partnered with Experience to deliver customizable behind-the-scenes gameday experiences, along with seat upgrades via the GT Gameday app.
