THE FLATS – Session I of the 2012 GT Invitational was completed Friday morning at the GT Aquatic Center, and an NCAA “B” cut time by sophomore Andrew Kosic highlighted the morning for the host Yellow Jackets. Tech will have representation in all but one championship final when the action resumes Friday at 6 p.m.

Kosic put down a time of 20.01 in the 50 free in the morning prelims, which is the third-fastest time headed to tonight’s finals and an NCAA “B” cut. He’ll be joined in the A-final by teammates Nico van Duijn (20.26), Andrew Chetcuti (20.36) and Eric Chiu (20.58). The B-final includes Jackets Jacob Johnson (20.97) and Matthew Vaughan (21.29).
The women’s 50 free features Lexi Weber (23.41), Kate Riley (23.54) and Erika Staskevicius (23.60) in the championship final tonight.
Marc Sarman was clocked with the second-fastest time in the prelims in the 200 IM of 1:50.36, and is seeded second in the A-final tonight. He’ll be joined by Anton Lagerqvist (1:51.84) and Wilson Wei (1:53.69).
In the 500 free, three Yellow Jackets swim the A-final, led by Mats Westergren’s morning time of 4:30.92. Zach Tillman (4:32.07) and Michael Kenny (4:33.25) join Westergren in the championship heat, while Colin Schouten (4:38.82) swims the B-final.
The women’s 500 free features Hailey White (4:53.73) in the A-final, and Kate Woolbright (5:04.12) and Sara Williford (5:04.31) in the B-final.
