Gray and Choice Named Georgia Tech Student-Athletes of the Week

ATLANTA – Lindsey Gray and Tashard Choice were named Georgia Tech Student-Athletes of the Week for Monday, November 13, 2006.

Gray, a junior from Lenexa, Kansas, earned her team-leading 12th double-double of the season Sunday to help the Yellow Jackets to a come-from-behind victory over UNC. She averaged a strong 5.12 kills per game on the weekend while also recording 3.62 digs adn 1.00 blocks per game. Her 20 digs against UNC was a career-high. The volleyball team improved to 6-0 in its last six games with the pair of wins over the weekend.

Choice, a junior from Riverdale, Ga., accounted for 151 of the Yellow Jackets’ 221 yards as No. 18 Tech shut out North Carolina, 7-0, to claim the Atlantic Coast Conference Coastal Division title. Choice rushed for 119 yards on 32 carries and scored the game’s only touchdown on a three-yard run. He also had two receptions for 32 yards. On the game’s only touchdown drive, this covered 20 plays and 10:30 on the clock. Choice carried 13 times for 42 yards on the 83-yard drive.

Choice has topped the 100-yard mark in three straight games and five of the last six. He is the ACC’s third-leading rusher, averaging 94.0 yards per game. He has 940 yards (the ninth-best season total in Georgia Tech history) and eight touchdowns. He is the only ACC back averaging more than 100 yards in conference games (109.1 ypg).
