Greensboro, N.C. – Georgia Tech freshman Glen Rice, Jr., has been named to the Atlantic Coast Conference Academic Team, announced Wednesday by Commissioner John Swofford.
Rice, a 6-5 guard from Marietta, Ga., has become a key member of the Yellow Jackets’ team this year, getting into the starting lineup on Feb. 16 and averaging 6.1 points, 3.6 rebounds and 1.6 assists per game in conference games. Tech is 19-10, 7-8 in the ACC, with one game left to play.
The Management major is one of five freshmen named to the team.
To be eligible for consideration, a student-athlete must have earned a 3.00 grade point average for the previous semester and maintained a 3.00 cumulative average during his academic career.
A pair of three-time All-Academic team selections – Virginia’s Jerome Meyinsse and Duke’s Brian Zoubek – were named along with 2008-09 repeaters in Clemson’s Tanner Smith and North Carolina’s Tyler Zeller.
