THE FLATS – Georgia Tech track and field’s Jamir Gibson highlighted the second day of competition of the ACC Outdoor Championships with a bronze medal performance in the men’s shot put.
In an exciting competition, Gibson threw a season-best mark of 18.61 meters (61-0.75) and earned All-ACC First Team honors.
Tech had two athletes earn All-ACC Second Team honors today. John Watkins took home sixth place in the men’s triple jump with a mark of 15.32 meters (50-3.25). Helena Lindsay placed sixth in a competitive women’s 3000m steeplechase race with a time of 10:01.49.
Sheleah Harris is set to advance to Saturday’s women’s 100m finals after finishing sixth overall in the preliminaries. Harris took home third place in her heat with a time of 11.64.
Other performances worth mentioning from today are by Jameson Miller and Zach Jaeger. Miller competed in the men’s 400m preliminaries, just missing the qualifying mark with a ninth-place time of 47.38. In the men’s 3000m steeplechase, Jaeger finishing in 11th place with a time of 8:52.77.
