THE FLATS – The Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets are ranked No. 22 in the third College Football Playoff Top 25 poll, released by the selection committee Tuesday night on ESPN. Tech is one of four ACC teams ranked in this week’s Top 25, joining No. 3 Florida State, No. 19 Clemson and No. 21 Duke.
Georgia Tech (8-2, 5-2) remains in the hunt for an ACC Coastal Division title and brings a three-game win streak into Saturday’s home finale vs. No. 19 Clemson (7-2, 6-1). Kickoff is set for noon ET on ESPN.
Tech, who was No. 24 in the second CFB Playoff Top 25 poll, is No. 23 in the Amway Coaches Poll and No. 24 in the AP Top 25 released earlier this week.
Beginning with the 2014 season, the College Football Playoff Top 25 replaces the former BCS rankings. The 12-member committee will ultimately pick the four teams to play in the national semifinals and set the matchups for the other four premier New Year’s Day bowls that are part of the playoff rotation.
Fans can save $25 on tickets to Saturday’s Top 25 matchup until midnight Wednesday online at http://buzz.gt/CLEMvsGT50 or by calling 1-888-TECH-TIX.
Saturday’s home finale will also kick off the 14th annual Michael Isenhour Toy Drive, hosted by the Georgia Tech Student-Athlete Advisory Board (SAAB). Fans are asked to bring a new, unwrapped toy or a monetary gift to the game. Student-athletes will be stationed at every gate entrance to collect all donations.
