Georgia Tech’s Lindsey Laband was named this week’s Atlantic Coast Conference Volleyball Player of the Week, after helping the Yellow Jackets defeat Maryland and Virginia to close out the regular season 16-0 in conference action for the first time in school history . The junior setter led a Tech offense that averaged 20.00 kills per game and hit .289 over the weekend. Laband, the nation’s leader in assists per game at 15.14, recorded 50 assists in the Jackets’ win over the Terrapins. She also registered 12 digs and hit .750 in the match.The Monument, Colo., native then dished out 49 assists in the Jackets’ 3-0 win over the Cavaliers. She also added 10 digs and two blocks, while hitting .333 in the match.
Over Tech’s six games, Laband averaged 16.50 assists, 3.67 digs and .83 kills, without registering a single hitting error on the weekend. This marks the second time this season that Laband has won the honor and the sixth time this year that a player from Georgia Tech has won the award.
The Yellow Jackets will return to action as the top seed in the upcoming ACC Tournament, facing the winner of the Clemson/Virginia Tech match on Friday at 11 a.m.
