Georgia Tech's Blackmon and Rath Fall in Finals of Southern Intercollegiates

Georgia Tech’s doubles team of Scott Blackmon and Zachary Rath fell in the finals of the Division II Doubles Southern Intercollegiates Monday afternoon. Blackmon and Rath lost to the 40th ranked doubles team of Joey Atas and Jonathan Stokke of Duke, 8-6.

Earlier in the day, the duo paired together to defeat the team of Briceno and Tell from the University of Florida, 9-8 (5) in the semifinals. Blackmon and Rath recorded a 3-1 record in the tournament and reached the finals of a college tournament for the first time in their careers.

In the consolation singles bracket, Jordan Delass defeated S. Shimizu from Tennessee Tech, 6-2, 6-2.

The Georgia Tech men’s tennis team will return to action Oct. 3 at the ITA All-Americans in Tulsa, Okla.
