CHAPEL HILL, N.C. — The Georgia Tech volleyball team fell to ACC leader North Carolina in three games Sunday, 27-30, 26-30, 22-30. With the loss, the Yellow Jackets fell to 8-4 overall and 4-2 in the conference, while the Tar Heels improved to 14-3 overall and 7-0 in ACC play.
Offensively, sophomore Amanda Hess and senior Maja Pachale each recorded 11 kills to lead Tech. Sophomore Alexandra Preiss added 10 kills, while hitting an impressive .375 for the match.
On defense, the Yellow Jackets were led by freshman Lynette Moster, who recorded 10 digs. Sophomore Kele Eveland and senior Kyleen Bell each contributed nine digs.
After dropping the first game 27-30, Tech had its chances in game No. 2. The Jackets posted 19 kills, to North Carolina’s 14, but made 10 errors and dropped the game, 26-30. The Tar Heels closed out the match by a score of 30-22 in game three.
Laura Greene, who posted team-highs in kills with 12 and digs with 15, paced the Tar Heels.
Tech returns to action Friday, October 11, when Maryland visits O’Keefe Gymnasium. Action is slated to begin at 7 p.m.
