THE FLATS – Georgia Tech will be the host school for the 2018 NCAA Division I Men’s Basketball South Regional at Philips Arena, the NCAA announced Monday. The 2018 NCAA South Regional is scheduled for March 22 and 24.
It’ll be the ninth NCAA Regional held in Atlanta and the first at Philips Arena.
Last week, Atlanta was awarded the 2020 Men’s Final Four at the new Atlanta Stadium, marking the fifth time that the city will host the Men’s Final Four. Atlanta has also hosted two Women’s Final Fours.
Most recently, Georgia Tech and the city of Atlanta hosted the 2012 NCAA Men’s South Regional and the 2013 NCAA Men’s Final Four – both at the Georgia Dome.
Atlanta has been the site of 85 NCAA tournament games, which ranks sixth all-time behind Kansas City (128), Dayton (103), Salt Lake City (92), Indianapolis (88), and Charlotte (86).
