Georgia Tech to Face Rival UGA in 2018 USTA College MatchDay

Nov. 20, 2017

THE FLATS – Georgia Tech men’s tennis will face off against archrival Georgia on Feb. 9 as part of the 2018 College MatchDay schedule, the USTA announced on Monday.

Joining five men’s teams and 14 teams overall in the showcase, the Yellow Jackets will battle the Bulldogs under the lights of the 1,200-seat USTA National Campus collegiate stadium at Lake Nona in Orlando, Fla.

Last year, College MatchDay drew more than 5,300 total fans, including the highest-attended regular season match in college tennis last year – Florida vs. Florida State (1,756).

Overall, Georgia holds the all-time record against Tech, winning 66 of the 94 matches between the two teams. Opening up the 2017 slate last year, the Yellow Jackets fell to the then-No. 6 Bulldogs before winning 11 of their next 12 matches. Tech’s last victory over UGA came in 2016 when it took the match handily, 6-1, over then-11th-ranked Georgia.

The match is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m. Admission is free for each College MatchDay, which includes kids activities, live music, games and giveaways on-site at the National Campus.
