THE FLATS — The NFL Playoff Wild Card weekend saw two Georgia Tech football #ProJackets’ seasons come to an end, with one #ProJacket being part of a great second half comeback to defeat a fellow #ProJacket in the first game of the weekend in the Tennessee Titans versus the Kansas City Chiefs.
Derrick Morgan was the lone #ProJacket to win this wild card weekend, as the Titans erased a 21-3 halftime deficit to defeat the Chiefs 22-21 on Saturday. In the come from behind win, Morgan had four total tackles and a sack.
In the Titans’ win, Morgan defeated fellow #ProJacket Harrison Butker who had a record-setting rookie campaign. The first-year NFL kicker made three PATs in the wild card loss and had a 48-yard field goal attempt hit off the uprights. On the year, Butker tallied 38 field goals, including a long of 53 yards, and was a perfect 28-for-28 on PATs.
The lone other #ProJacket in action on wild card weekend was Isaiah Johnson who saw action on special teams and the defensive side of the ball in the Los Angeles Rams’ 26-13 home loss to the Atlanta Falcons on Saturday night. Johnson was active for the Rams a total of five weeks this past season, including the last three weeks (15, 16 and 17), as well as in the first round of the playoffs this past weekend.
Along with Morgan, Tech #ProJacket Shaq Mason will be in action this weekend as the two Yellow Jacket alums will face off against one another in the trenches as the New England Patriots host the Tennessee Titans in the AFC Divisional Round on Saturday, Jan. 13, at 8:15 p.m. ET.
