– Iman Shumpert scored season-high 21 against Orlando Magic … Marcus Georges-Hunt and Jarret Jack make season debuts … Thaddeus Young still averaging near a double-double with two 14-point efforts and 23 total rebounds in four games last week … All of that and more can be found in this week’s Georgia Tech #ProJackets Basketball Report.
Derrick Favors has started the 2017-18 season strong, scoring in double figures in four of the Utah Jazz’ first five games. Despite being held to just six points against the LA Clippers on Tuesday night, Favors responded against the Phoenix Suns, scoring 15 points and grabbing seven rebounds in 31 minutes of action. Shooting 7-of-9 from the field, Favors has now shot better than 50 percent in all but one game this year.
Marcus Georges-Hunt made his season debut in Minnesota on Tuesday night as they faced off against the Indiana Pacers, playing just under five minutes off the bench for the Timberwolves. The Wolves lost the game without Jimmy Butler, who was ruled out for illness. Marcus Georges-Hunt also logged two minutes in the loss to the Pistons on Wednesday.
Jarrett Jack also made his debut on Tuesday night in a New York Knick jersey, taking on the Celtics in Boston. Despite the Knicks still searching for their first win of the season, Jack logged 17.5 minutes, going 2-for-5 for four points. Jack also grabbed two boards and dished two assists in the outing. New York will most likely continue to look for Jack to be key off the bench as it hosts the Brooklyn Nets on Friday, Oct. 27.
After a season-high 21 points on Oct. 21, Iman Shumpert and the Cleveland Cavaliers are 3-2 to start the season. Second only to LeBron James in points and minutes (30), Shumpert shot 5-for-14 from the field and 4-of-5 from three-point land. He grabbed seven rebounds and made seven free throws in the loss as he continues to be a leader of the bench unit that consists of Kyle Korver and Dwayne Wade. Shumpert would only get 13 minutes on Tuesday in the win over Chicago, largely being placed into the game for defensive purposes.

Thaddeus Young recorded 14 points in two of his last three games. His first 14-point effort came against the Miami Heat in a four-point loss. Young also grabbed eight rebounds and one steal while shooting 43.8 percent from the field (7-16). He would also score 14 against the Oklahoma City Thunder on Wednesday, grabbing four rebounds and getting two steals in the 33-minute night. Through four games, Young is averaging 12.0 points per game (on .478 shooting) and 7.5 rebounds.
