FAVORS HONORS LATE MOTHER’S MEMORY
Derrick Favors carries the memory of his mother every day, in every facet of his life, on and off the floor. He echoes her favorite sayings when he talks to his children. He carries the discipline she displayed in her life when he suits up for the Jazz. Because of Deandra, Derrick has become one of the league’s most respected veterans. He became such a character guy that the Jazz, after trading him to the New Orleans Pelicans, could not wait to get him back onto the roster and into the locker room this past offseason when he became a free agent.

YOUNG HEADS BACK TO BENCH IN CHICAGO
With Daniel Theis (hip) back in the starting five after a one-game absence, Thaddeus Young went back to the bench for Tuesday night’s game against Brooklyn. Across Young’s past 10 games as a reserve, he’s averaged 10.0 points, 5.0 rebounds, 4.4 assists and 1.1 steals in 20.2 minutes.
Young is optimistic about the remainder of the 2020-21 season after the return of Bulls’ star Zach Levine.

CALLED OLD, YOUNG PUSHES BACK
Thaddeus Young is a little over a month away from turning 33-years-old, but what he did last night said otherwise. At the end of the third quarter against the Charlotte Hornets, Young turned back the clock and met second-year big man Jalen McDaniels at the rim.

COULD OKOGIE BE IN WOLVES’ STARTING LINEUP NEXT SEASON?
With Minnesota improving to 14-18 since the All-Star break, Chelanga Langason believes the Timberwolves could be a playoff team in 2021-22 and Josh Okogie could be a starter in the system that new head coach Chris Finch employs…
“Still, with all the offensive firepower in the starting line, I think it’s more likely Chris Finch will go with one of the two guys he’s been starting during Beasley’s absence: Josh Okogie and Jarred Vanderbilt.
Okogie and Vanderbilt are similar players in a lot of ways. They are both high-energy fan favorites who bring it every night on the defensive end. They are also incredibly limited offensive players. The Wolves need an infusion of defense with the starters, and Finch has managed to make the offense work as Minnesota has gone 9-7 over the last 16, with these two playing a healthy slate of minutes.”
When Anthony Edwards and Josh Okogie share the floor, the energy is infectious.
Dave Benz and I had the same reaction to this play: mind-blown.

CHRIS BOSH SHARES TECH EXPERIENCE IN UPCOMING BOOK
Georgia Tech Hall of Fame basketball player Chris Bosh has devoted a chapter in his upcoming book, Letters to a Young Athlete, to his experience on The Flats during the 2002-03 academic year. An eleven-time All-Star, two-time NBA champion, Olympic gold medalist, and the league’s Global Ambassador, had his playing days cut short at their prime by a freak medical condition. His extraordinary career ended not at a time of his choosing but “in a doctor’s office in the middle of the afternoon.” Forced to reckon with how to find meaning to carry forward, he found himself looking back over his path, from a teenager in Dallas who balanced basketball with the high school robotics club to the pinnacle of the NBA and beyond. The book goes on sale June 1 (pre-order here).

Jaylen Nowell threw a mind-boggling transition pass to Josh Okogie on this possession, leading to the dunk for Naz Reid.
Jaylen’s combo-guard skillset fits well alongside both D’Lo and Ant, which makes him a valuable 3rd guard for this Wolves team. pic.twitter.com/ZFK8TOPrel
