THE FLATS – Georgia Tech football’s Oct. 1 game at Pitt will kick off at 8 p.m. and be televised nationally on ACC Network, the Atlantic Coast Conference and ESPN announced on Saturday night.
Next Saturday’s matchup at No. 24 Pitt will mark the third time in Georgia Tech’s first five games this season that it will face a nationally ranked opponent. It will also mark Tech’s first visit to Pittsburgh since 2018, as the Yellow Jackets and Panthers have squared off in Atlanta each of the past three seasons (the teams’ 2020 matchup, which was scheduled to be played in Pittsburgh, was moved to Atlanta when the ACC schedule was adjusted due to the Covid-19 pandemic).
The last time Georgia Tech faced a nationally ranked opponent in the ACC Network primetime game, the Yellow Jackets routed No. 21/20 North Carolina, 45-22, on Sept. 25 of last season at Mercedes-Benz Stadium.
