July 23, 2002
The Georgia Tech Athletic Association has initiated a pilot parking program for the 2002 football season that will incorporate 1,125 parking spaces on the Tech campus while providing improved security and traffic patterns for Yellow Jacket patrons.
The additional 1,125 prime spaces are located in two key areas: the Alexander Memorial Coliseum area and the Student Center area. These spaces will be available for purchase by Alexander-Tharpe Fund contributors at a cost of $35 per space for a season pass. Season passes for recreational vehicles cost $95. There will be no single game passes available in these areas as well as no season passes sold on game day. Passes must be purchased by August 27.
To accommodate tailgating, these lots will be open a minimum of four hours prior to kickoff (earlier for late afternoon and evening games). Official times will be established when kickoff times are set. The lots will be manned with security personnel at all times, and the surrounding streets will be controlled to provide improved access and traffic flow.
Alexander-Tharpe members at the Alexander and Dodd levels have been offered the first opportunities to purchase these passes; however, this program is open to any contributors to the Alexander Tharpe Fund. Additional football parking for the general public will be available in the following areas:
Lot A11 (Located off Ferst Drive and State Street)
Lots A15, A16, A18 (Located in the area between Hemphill Street and State Street)
These lots will be open to everyone and will be managed by Georgia Tech Parking and Transportation. A $5 per game fee will be collected upon entrance to these lots. No advance reservations are required for these lots.
