ATLANTA – The Georgia Tech men’s tennis team (9-2, 1-1 ACC) will take on the visiting Miami Hurricanes (6-2, 0-0) Friday in a key Atlantic Coast Conference match-up. The match is scheduled to start at 2:30 p.m. at the Bill Moore Tennis Center. Live stats will be available on www.ramblinwreck.com.
Miami leads the all-time series over the Yellow Jackets, 28-5. The Hurricanes have won the last three matches, including a 4-3 win over the Jackets at last year’s ACC Championships. Tech’s last defeated the `Canes in 2005 with a 6-1 win.
The Yellow Jackets evened their ACC record with a 4-3 victory over visiting Clemson last Tuesday. The Jackets won the doubles point and senior Scott Blackmon clinched the match with a 6-1, 7-6 (7-3) win in the No. 4 singles position. Tech also got wins from David North and Guillermo Gomez in the top two singles positions.
Miami is coming off a 5-2 win over Furman. This is their first ACC match of the season.
The Jackets will travel to Athens next Wednesday, March 12 for a match-up with in-state rival and third-ranked Georgia. The match is scheduled to begin at 2:30 p.m. at the Dan Magill Tennis Complex.
