ATLANTA – The 20th-ranked Georgia Tech Women’s Tennis team (10-7, 1-3 Atlantic Coast Conference) will continue its season with a pair of road contests at Boston College Thursday and Maryland Saturday.
The Yellow Jackets and Eagles will meet at the Flynn Recreation Complex beginning at 12 p.m., while Tech will take on Maryland at the Tennis Center also at 11 a.m.
“Every match is very important for us as we try to build momentum for the ACC Tournament,” head coach Bryan Shelton said. “We would like to sustain a high level of play throughout the rest of the season. Boston College and Maryland are good programs and both will present challenges as we go on the road.”
Georgia Tech has had a lot of recent success against the ACC’s northern-most programs. Tech is 4-1 all-time against BC, including wins in all four meetings since the Eagles entered the ACC. The Jackets hold an 18-14 lead in the all-time series against Maryland but have defeated the Terrapins 10 straight times.
Sophomore Irina Falconi continues to demonstrate why she is the nation’s top-ranked player after winning three matches over nationally-ranked opponents last week and earning her fifth ACC Player of the Week nod in 11 weeks.
The Yellow Jackets will return home next week for their final homestand of the season. Tech will meet Duke on Saturday, April 10 and North Carolina on Sunday, April 11. Both matches are set for noon starts. The Jackets will also celebrate the career of their lone senior Amanda McDowell next Sunday.
