NOTING GEORGIA TECH
Georgia Tech scored a touchdown on its first offensive possession for the sixth time this season. Tech also scored on its opening drive against Auburn, North Carolina, Connecticut, Wake Forest and Miami, all touchdowns.
Calvin Johnson’s first-quarter touchdown catch was his sixth receiving touchdown of the season and the 13th of his career. He moved into a tie for sixth place in Tech history in career receiving touchdowns.
KaMichael Hall’s first-quarter interception was his second of the season and the 19th of the year for the Yellow Jackets. The last Tech team to have more than 19 interceptions was the 1990 national championship team, which had 24. Tech’s linebackers have seven of the Jackets’ 19 interceptions.
Punter Ben Arndt put four punts inside the 20-yard line, giving him 27 for the season.
Tech held Georgia to 266 yards of total offense, the low by the Bulldogs this season and the sixth team that the Jackets have held below 300 yards this season. In the last two games, the Tech defense has allowed just 503 yards combined.
Georgia managed 68 yards rushing, also a season low for the Bulldogs and the seventh team this season that Tech has held to 100 yards or less on the ground.
