More than 130 former Georgia Tech football players, from the 1940s and ’50s through 2001, gathered for the annual Lettermen’s Golf Tournament, held April 27 at Cherokee Run Golf Club in Conyers, Ga. and hosted by head coach Chan Gailey and his staff.

The winning team consisted of Gary Lanier, John Davis, Kenny Thompson and Ken Escoe, who combined for a 17-under-par in the scramble format. That quartet edged the second-place team of Kim King, Dennis James, Giles Smith and Kim Woodall, who posted a 15-under-par.

Davis and 1952 all-America running back Leon Hardeman claimed prizes for Closest to the Pin, while the Longest Drive was by Mike Johnson.

The team of Tash Van Dora, Jim Person, David Polk and Joel Stevenson tied the foursome of Joe Brown, Joe Kelly, George Brodnax and Buck Doyal for third place. Scott Sisson, Reggie Graham, Hunt Jackson and Reggie Graham placed fourth, while George Morris, Larry Morris, Stan Cochran and Ben Daugherty were fifth.
