Four Yellow Jackets Honored as ACC Postgraduate Scholars

Feb. 22, 2017

THE FLATS – Georgia Tech seniors Andrea Demick (swimming and diving), Lauren Pitz (volleyball), Teegan Van Gunst (volleyball) and Harrison Butker (football) are among the 54 Atlantic Coast Conference student-athletes selected as 2017 Weaver-James-Corrigan Award recipients. The Weaver-James-Corrigan awards are presented to ACC student-athletes that have performed with distinction in both the classroom and their respective sports while demonstrating exemplary conduct in the community.

Demick, Pitz and Van Gunst have been named as recipients of the ACC’s Weaver-James-Corrigan postgraduate scholarships, with each receiving $5,000 towards their graduate educations.

Butker is one of nine recipients of the Weaver-James-Corrigan honorary award, which recognizes student-athletes who plan to pursue professional careers in their respective sports instead of enrolling in graduate school.

Georgia Tech’s four ACC postgraduate scholars will be honored at the annual Cone Health ACC Postgraduate Luncheon, hosted by the Nat Greene Kiwanis Club and presented by ESPN, on April 12 at the Sheraton Four Seasons Hotel and Imperial Ballroom in Greensboro, N.C.
